Generations by Peachdust Generations by Peachdust
THIS is my favorite among my Dalek Week entries. I love it:)

Deryn and Alek were both quite in touch with the Lost Generation, I think. They lived through the First World War, saw combat and violence. Many young men(and women) died or got mentally and physically wounded. They were "lost". The Lost Generation.
Also, Remembrance Day.

Aaaaand... Dalek Week is over!

Ooh, the Lost Generation! Somehow I'm a history geek and totally missed that. I just learned about the Lost Generation today. I love this picture. <3 It's simple, but perfect.

This is drawn well, but really quite sad an ending to the week :( I love the artistic device of only the poppies being coloured. It really draws your attention. And Deryn looks awesome here!

Aw, thank you so much.
Well, WW1 was pretty awesome for a History geek, but I wanted to remember people that the war isn't that cool...

Thank you for all your comments:aww:

So simple, so evocative; such an obvious Generations, but nobody else did it. I'd thought about poppies but sank into the mire of controversy about the symbol & decided to leave well alone.

To throw in my bit of history geekery: The Lost Generation was strictly those who didn't come back. The link from father to son to grandson was broken, because the middle strata was virtually eliminated by the war. That was one of the things that caused so much social change around the World Wars.

Aw, thank you. Yes, I worked hard to keep it simple, yet deep.

I did a lot of googling about the Lost Generation but could never find a simple explanation(as every definition was a bit different from the previous I had read), so thank you so much for your own history geekery, it really helped. This theme is always very interesting:)
